The NASEO-NARUC Advanced Nuclear State Collaborative (ANSC) convenes state utility regulators, State Energy Officials, and invited experts to exchange questions, needs, and challenges relating to the planning and deployment of new advanced nuclear generation. ANSC participants will have the opportunity to share information on the regulatory, policy, and programmatic steps needed to facilitate the deployment of advanced nuclear and work with peers across different states. NASEO-NARUC Advanced Nuclear State Action Tracker
The Advanced Nuclear State Action tracker provides an overview of state activities that may impact states' advanced nuclear efforts (advanced nuclear is defined as Gen III+ and Gen IV technologies). This tracker focuses on highlighting advanced nuclear activities and partnerships involving state government entities (i.e., State Public Utility Commissions, State Energy Offices, state legislatures, and Governor's Offices). The Advanced Nuclear State Action Tracker covers state actions related to advanced nuclear from 2013 - present, and will include relevant Executive Orders, Policies and Programs, and state legislation that has passed into law.

Sandy Fazeli

Senior Managing Director

Sandy Fazeli leads NASEO’s Energy Economy and Buildings programs and helps lead content development for NASEO's major conferences and events. She serves as an Adjunct Fellow for the Center for Strategic and International Studies Chair in U.S. India Policy Studies and on the Advisory Board of the Energy Policy Institute at Boise State University. Previously, she served as the Vice-Chair of the City of Minneapolis's Community Environmental Advisory Commission and on the National Academies' Committee on Accelerating Decarbonization in the United States. Prior to NASEO, Ms. Fazeli worked on energy efficiency and state policy issues at the Rocky Mountain Institute, the Colorado Energy Office, and the Alliance to Save Energy. She received a Bachelor of Science in foreign service from Georgetown University and a Master of Development Practice from the University of Denver.

Kirsten Verclas

Senior Managing Director

Kirsten Verclas leads NASEO's electricity program, which informs and educates the states on issues related to generation, transmission, and distribution. She also leads NASEO's work on grid resilience. She serves as a member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity’s Electricity Advisory Committee, where she is the Vice Chair of the Smart Grid Subcommittee. Prior to NASEO, Ms. Verclas was an ORISE Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy, where she worked on clean energy, state and local energy policy, cybersecurity issues and emergency response. She also served as a Program Manager in the International Department of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) working on regulatory partnerships in Africa, as well as a Senior Program Manager at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) at Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Verclas has written extensively on energy and climate as well as security policy in the transatlantic context. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Franklin and Marshall College, a Master of Arts in International Relations from The George Washington University, and a Master of Science in Energy Policy and Climate from Johns Hopkins University.
